Today I was watching KTVI’s gubernatorial debate between Attorney General Jay Nixon and Congressman Kenny Hulshof.
A question was asked about what the candidates would do to restrict state spending in these difficult economic times. Jay Nixon answered that he would consolidate offices that have similar duties in Jefferson City.
Congressman Hulshof proposed creating a new office, the Inspector General’s office to determine where overspending is taking place.
Uh, really? We need more bureaucrats to tell us how to spend our money? If there’s one thing
our state doesn’t need it’s more bureaucracy. We need more people with health insurance, more jobs, and more integrity from our elected officials, not more offices for Republicans to give jobs to their party cronies.
