The McPalin campaign has done all they can to tie themselves to the Regan Administration. It makes sense, after all, Ronald Regan carried 44 states in the 1980 election, running against an incumbent, and 49 states in 1984. This feat was also accomplished by Richard Nixon in 1972, but for some reason Republicans don’t like to be compared to his administration. The truly interesting thing about comparing yourself to Ronald Regan is that you also link your policies to so-called Reganomics. This economic policy was referred to as “Voodoo Economics” by George Herbert Walker Bush (remember he’s the one who actually
won a war in Iraq).Reganomics took the country from the stagflation of the late 1970’s to massive budget shortfalls in the 1980’s and then to the second worst recession in American history by 1987.
George W. Bush (I think he’s still the President) has accomplished much more with his strict adherence to Reganomics. He’s managed to take the country from the prosperity of the 1990’s to both stagflation and a massive recession.
Now the question that Americans are asking themselves is whether they want another Reganomics disciple to handle our waning economy or a Clinton-style progressive. If the polls are any indication, even historically Republican states are hungry for a return to the friendly economic climate of the 1990’s.
